About Marjorie Middleton

My name is Marjorie Middleton, and I am a computer programmer.

Before I became a programmer, I attended the University of Delaware and obtained a degree in Biology. Then, being a sucker for punishment, I attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and got my PhD in Immunology. Then for the next decade and a half, I hung around one medical school or research hospital or another, growing cells in flasks and subjecting them to various chemicals and oohing over the results. I worked at University of Oregon Medical School, National Jewish Center for Respiratory Medicine in Denver, University of Colorado Medical School, and a small start up called Cytokine Sciences. Then I decided I had had enough.

I went to night school at the Community College of Aurora for a year, learned the basics of computer programming, and got a job. The computer programming jobs are detailed in my resume. Then I was downsized, got bored sitting at home, learned PHP from a book, and built this web site to prove it. Thinking about that sentence, I wasn't downsized. I am the same size I always was. The company was downsized, and my job was a casualty.

Along the way, I acquired a husband, and hung onto him, for thirty years in June. I have a daughter, whom I have also hung onto, although she is now preparing to break away. She will graduate with a degree in wildlife biology from Colorado State University in December, and is brimming over with enthusiasm for all the places she'll go and wildlife she'll see.

My hobbies include wildlife photography and pottery. See www.wildflowerchild.info for my attempts at photography and flower identification.
